Ripened Apples

Well it finally happened. After 3 years my apple has finally ripened. My Powerbook is 3 years old this month, what does that mean? Well Apple's excellent Apple Care has finally expired from here on out it's me and my machine. So again what does this mean? I guess nothing really I just wanted to acknowledge this progression also to gloat a little. While my machine is technically old, I find it is still adequate for what I need to do. The sad news though - And I must admit it - I know I will have to finally aquire a new machine soon. Why? it is actually very simple, its a one word answer: INTEL.

Any Mac fan can recall the news of Apple going from the Power PC Processor to Intel. I realize this as good news and the Intel Machines are extremely fast powerful computers. My Father has a new MacBook Pro 17" so I have been able to see the old and new side by side. And it is a nice upgrade. Other than performance the main reason will be support. I know soon software developers will soon - if they haven't already - drop support for pre Intel boxs. So let the money saving begin.
